Mission

The mission of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department mission is to enhance the quality of life within the Village by providing the community with the highest quality of law enforcement services possible.

Our Principles

The Department is guided by the principles of the United States Constitution and the Constitution of New York State and seeks to preserve the peace, enforce the law, reduce incidents of crime, and provide a safe environment for citizens while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons.

Staffing

The SHPD includes:

  • 24 police officers
  • 10 part-time civilian employees including:
    • 6 school crossing guards
    • 3 parking enforcement officers
    • 1 Administrative Assistant

The department includes a patrol division (including bike patrol), detectives, administrative staff, and a school resource officer. The SHPD is led by Chief Anthony Bueti.

Community-Oriented Policing

The Department is committed to the continued expansion of its “community-oriented policing” approach, including increased foot and bike patrols that foster positive interaction between officers and residents.  In addition, the School Resource Officer plays a role in developing trust between the Department and school-age children and is trained in assessing issues including bullying.

Please remember that no issue is too “small” to be brought to the attention of a police officer if it is of concern to you.
