Overview

While the Mayor and Trustees are paid a modest annual stipend, the Board are essentially volunteer positions, given the amount of hours required at work sessions, public hearings, committee meetings and for research and preparation. Why put in the time? Board members share a passion for the Village, and a belief that with careful stewardship, the quality of life for residents now and in the future can be improved even further. Trustees may each have varied areas of interest, from improving opportunities for youth recreation, to economic development, infrastructure or as advocates for improved services to seniors, but they are united in their desire for input and participation from as many fellow residents as possible.

Come out to Village Hall or email a Trustee with your ideas on ways to improve life in our Village. Board meetings are open to the public and are typically held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the meeting room on the second floor of Village Hall on Beekman Avenue. Work sessions are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Remember, though, that residents don't need to wait for formal meetings to express their opinions or propose ideas. A vast number of projects with the potential to impact Village life for years to come are underway, from water infrastructure improvements to developments on the "East Parcel," and at the former General Motors site.

You can also make your voice heard by voting. The Village holds annual local elections in March to elect the Mayor and Trustees, depending on which terms have expired. Each member is elected to a two-year term. Terms are staggered so that there are three trustee positions up for election in any given year, with Mayoral elections every other year.
