Department of Public Works

Village Offices will be closed on Monday, October 8th in Observance of Columbus Day. 
**ALL SANITATION ROUTES WILL BE PICKED UP ON TUESDAY, October 9th**

The Department of Public Works has 27 full-time employees.  The maintenance of all roads, sidewalks, street lights, street signs, trees, and parking meers in the Village of Sleepy Hollow is the responsibility of the Public Works Department.

The Department also maintains a water distribution system and pump stations for potable water and is also responsible for the Village's sanitary sewers, snow and leaf removal, storm water management, recycling and garbage pickup .

The Department is also responsible for maintaining the Village's parks and the removal of leaves and brush in residential areas. This Department also consists of the Sanitation Department, which is responsible for household garbage pickup, commercial garbage pickup, all recycling & bulk items.

Wayne Ballard, is the Superintendent of Public Works.  He began his work with the Village in January of 2018.  He is a longtime resident of Rockland County and brings many years of experience in Public Works to Sleepy Hollow.  We welcome Mr. Ballard to Sleepy Hollow.

Richard Gross, is the General Foreman for the Village of Sleepy Hollow.  He has been employed with the Village since 1982.  Mr. Gross is a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow and a volunteer Firefighter & Deputy Fire Chief for the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department, Rescue Hose.
