Committees & Boards

The Village of Sleepy Hollow is governed by an elected Mayor and six elected Trustees.  The Mayor and Trustees each serve two-year terms on a staggered basis.  The Village holds annual local elections in March to elect Mayor, Trustees and Village Justice depending on which terms have expired.

The Mayor is the chief executive officer for the Village of Sleepy Hollow. The Board of Trustees sets policy, approves the budget, adopts local laws and appoints the Village Administrator to implement policies and supervise administration of local affairs.

Several advisory boards and committees make recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Trustees. The Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Architectural Review Board, and Waterfront Advisory Commission make land use decisions. Other committees include: Parking Authority, Tourism and Celebrations, Public Safety, Recreation Advisory Board and others.

All meetings of the Board of Trustees and the various committees and boards are open to the public.  For more information, click on the dedicated links on the main menu.
