Most properties in the Village of Sleepy Hollow are billed quarterly for water consumption with the exception of a few larger commercial properties which are billed monthly. Sewer and sanitation charges are included on the water bill. The rate structure, due dates and other pertinent information is included on the water bill.  Water bills are mailed at the end of each quarter and are due the last Friday of the following month.

Village Water Billing Cycle and Payment Schedule:

Checks should be made payable to the Village of Sleepy Hollow.  Payments can be mailed to Village of Sleepy Hollow Water Bills, 28 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 or made in person at the Village Hall on the second floor.

Past due accounts are assessed a 10% penalty for the first thirty days of delinquency after the due date, and an additional 1% per month for every 30 days thereafter. No Exceptions.

Delinquent water bills not paid by April 1st each year become a lien on your property and are transferred annually to your tax bill.  Payment is required with the first installment of the tax bill.

Postmarks are valid only if done at the U.S. Post Office, on or before the final due date.  Foreign country postmarks and private/corporate postage machines postmarks are not acceptable proof of timely payments.

Water bill payments may not be combined with tax payments. Please write a separate check for the water bill.

IF YOU SELL YOUR HOME:

If you are moving, it is necessary to get a final water meter reading.  Final water meter reading appointments can be arranged by calling the Water & Sewer Department.  In addition, a Tax Change of Ownership form should be completed and submitted to the Water & Sewer Department.
