Leaves Pick Up:
Leaves pick up is ongoing throughout the Village.  Unforeseen conditions may delay the pick up of your leaves.
Leaf piles mixed with other materials such as twigs, brush, pumpkins, will not be collected. 
Leaves MUST NOT be piled in the traffic's right of way, nor blocking sidewalks.  
Please bag your leaves as much as possible in biodegradable paper bags. 


The Department of Public Works has 30 full-time employees.  The maintenance of all roads, sidewalks, street lights, street signs, trees, snow plowing, and parking meters in the Village of Sleepy Hollow is the responsibility of the Public Works - Highway Department.

The Department also maintains a water distribution system and pump stations for potable water and is also responsible for the Village's sanitary sewers, snow and leaf removal, storm water management, recycling and garbage pickup .

The Department is also responsible for maintaining the Village's parks and the removal of leaves and brush in residential areas. This Department also consists of the Sanitation Department, which is responsible for household garbage pickup, commercial garbage pickup, all recycling & bulk items.  

Kevin Smith, is the Superintendent for Public Works.  Mr. Smith is a lifelong Westchester County resident, currently living in Mt Pleasant with his wife and four sons.
